So last night my family and I went to the drive-in movie theatre in Alabama. We saw the first film of the double feature Rio and Hop. Rio was so cute, but my nephews, brother, and parents (and me) were too tired to make it through the second film. I highly recommend the drive-in. It is $15 a carload and you get to see two movies. Wow! Two people cannot get into the movies for $15 these days!
Anyway, since I have been trying to watch my weight, I googled best options at the movie theatre. I found out that popcorn with little or no butter, hot dogs, and junior mints were my healthiest choices. So I ordered a small popcorn, no extra butter, (although it already had butter popped in, and salt) and a bottled water. I had a chicken salad whole wheat pita with roasted potatoes a few hours before, so I thought I could make it.
Boy was I wrong. There is something about popcorn that you cannot eat it slowly. It is a constant hand to mouth motion where I forget what is going into my mouth. I dont even taste the popcorn. I just eat, eat, eat it. So needless to say, the popcorn didnt even make it to the previews, and I was back up at the snack bar ordering more food. My first mistake, eating so quickly, not savoring the taste. My second, tasting one of my nephews fries, my third, dipping the fry into my brothers nacho cheese. So I found myself ordering chili-cheese-fries (a small) and missing the previews (oddly my favorite part of movies) and the first few minutes of the film.
I was weak, I felt guilty, and I woke up with heart burn.
I am nervous about tomorrow because it is my favorite meal of the year. I am going to let myself enjoy the ham, potato salad, deviled eggs, and baked beans... in smaller portions. I am going to skip the bread since I will be eating so much mayonnaise in the previous dishes. And I am excited because my grandmother is making Cherries in the Snow for dessert. It is angel food cake (low fat), whipped cream (fat free), cherry jello (low calorie), and cherry pie filling (I will pick around that). But I know that this meal that I usually gorge myself on will mean extra workout time for me.
Because it is not in our budget right now, I am not a member of the gym. But I have been walking my dogs around the neighborhood and doing my biggest loser powersculpt workout video, some exercises from the cards that I got out of my self magazine, and using this gold's gym work out kit I bought on clearance at Walmart. It has resistance bands, a balance board and these little sliding disk things. I also need to break out my Tracey Anderson videos that I bought a few months ago. Her high intense yoga-palates kicks your booty!
Anyhow, I have decided that I will weigh-in every weekend and Wednesday partially because I am too impatient to only do it once a week. I dont have a scale yet, so when I get back from my grandmother's I will log-in, edit this post and post my weight.
This morning, I did the power scuplt video.
Then I ate my snack= peanut butter (did you know JIF has 30 less calories than PeterPan), caramel rice cake, and a half of a banana. Total calories = 280.
I will close with four positive affirmations from an article called, "Honk if you're happy," from this month's Self magazine.
"If at first you don't succeed, redefine success."
"I'm not perfect, but parts of me are fantastic."
"The truth shall set you free, but first it will piss you off."
"I don't want buns of steel. I want buns of cinnamon."
MmmmMmmm, cinnamon buns. I need to find a healthy version of those!
8:40 pm update.
Weekend weigh in = 166 pounds! I lost five pounds since Wendesday. It's probably all water weight but I don't care I am celebrating.
And I did celebrate by doing an hour workout with my sister, Kacie, and Tracy Anderson. She kicked our booties! Her body is amazing. Her style is dance/palates/yoga ish. And she is hardcore! She is an inspiration!

dawning of a new day
Okay, so I have tried blogging before, but tonight I hope that this blog will hold me accountable. I have a goal, and that is to lose 30 pounds before I turn 30 years old. I am going to be honest, raw, and document every moment. Starting with the dreaded before pictures that I took tonight. These are incredibly difficult for me to take, look at, and post, but it is a part of the process.
A little bit about me...
Weight has always been a control thing for me. In middle school I had a tough time with eating. My skinniest moment was my seventh grade class picture when I looked like an absolute skeleton. In high school, my weight never topped 113lbs. I have always had hips, small boobs, and a tiny waist~my shape is like a coke bottle.
In college, I gained the freshmen 15lb, which I can admit, made me look healthy for once. In 2005, I gained up to 155 and immediately started myself on a 500 calorie a day diet and began doing palates in my apartment. I lost down to 135 again. After college my weight fluctuated between 140 and 150, depending on the time of the year. During the winter was my highest weight of the year. But by spring and summer I would drop it back down. Until 2 years ago.
Two years ago, I was preparing for my wedding day. I began working out every day and it felt good. On wedding day I weighed 143. A weight that I am comfortable and happy with. 143 put me in a size 8 or 10. 143 was amazing. But with the wedding came comfortability. And soon I was at 150, 160, and now, only 1 year and 8 months later, I am weighing in at 171 pounds. The highest I have ever weighed.
What happened? I eat whatever I want, I do not exercise, and I feel miserable.
Yesterday, I ordered healthe trim. I am not one to try diet pills but I need that extra boost and these are all natural. So tonight, April 20th is Day 1 on the journey of losing thirty before thirty. My 30th birthday is September 20, 2012. One year and 5 months to the day, I hope to be 141 pounds. It is here that I will document this journey. First things first, the before pictures. YUCK!

| From behind |
| Full frontal |

I started reading this book, stopped, and have been terrified to pick it back up. I am not going to be afraid any more. "Reshaping It All" by Candace Cameron.
My last binge tonight was 5 chocolate chip cookies warmed in the microwave with a glass of milk. I didn't even want them. I don't even like cookies that much. But they called out to me in the grocery store! If this is going to work I need some self control.
So here I am, the good, the bad, the cottage cheese! I need your help, words of encouragement, and prayers! I cannot do this alone. Wish me luck!
